Empowering Special Education Excellence

Education for life, rooted in care

Welcome to Thrive Alternative Provision

A nurturing space for children aged 4 to 16 who need something different.

At Thrive, we support children and young people who find mainstream school overwhelming. Whether due to anxiety, trauma, learning differences, or social-emotional needs, our pupils come to Thrive because they need a calm, understanding environment where they can reconnect with learning and themselves.

We offer part-time alternative provision focused on:

  • Academic support in literacy and numeracy

  • Therapeutic interventions for emotional regulation and wellbeing

  • Enrichment activities that build confidence, independence, and life skills

  • A unique peer mentoring model where older students support younger ones

Our approach is rooted in relationship-based practice, trauma-informed care, and the belief that every child can thrive — given the right environment and support.

Whether you're a parent, a school, or a professional looking for the right setting for a learner, we’d love to show you what makes Thrive special.

  • Now open to children aged 4 to 16

  • Therapeutic, inclusive, and child-led

  • Focused on emotional wellbeing and academic recovery

Welcome letter from the Head of School, Joanne Henshaw, describing Thrive as an inclusive program for children aged 4 to 16, emphasizing emotional support, education, and partnership with families.

Imperfection & Authenticity Statement

At Thrive, we believe that perfection is not the goal — authenticity is.

We do not model perfection, because nobody is perfect. Instead, we model being real, reflective, and resilient.

You may notice things around our environment that are not perfectly straight, perfectly tidy, or perfectly aligned. That’s okay. In fact, it’s intentional. Our small imperfections remind us that:

  • Mistakes are part of learning

  • Growth matters more than flawlessness

  • Every person has strengths and areas to develop

  • Being human is more important than being perfect

We celebrate effort, progress, and individuality. By embracing imperfection, we teach our learners that they are valued not because they are perfect, but because they are unique, capable, and constantly growing.

At Thrive, our imperfections are what make us perfectly human.
