Parker Bear

Meet Parker the Bear 🐻

Parker is a very special member of our school community. He’s our wellbeing bear, and he’s here to help children when they’re feeling a bit low, worried, or finding it hard to come into school.

Parker comes equipped with his very own first aid pack and a tablet loaded with doctor and caring games. These activities give children a safe and playful way to explore feelings, build confidence, and regain a sense of calm. Spending time with Parker can help children feel nurtured, understood, and ready to re-engage with their learning.

Parker also has his own email address. Children can email Parker if they’re feeling nervous, sad, or just need to get something off their chest. Writing to Parker gives pupils a gentle, pressure-free way to share worries that might feel hard to say out loud. Messages sent to Parker are always treated with care and support by our staff.

Most importantly, Parker helps children remember that they are not alone. He’s there to offer comfort, encouragement, and a friendly face during tricky moments — whether that’s at the start of the school day or during times of emotional challenge.

At our school, wellbeing comes first, and Parker plays a big part in helping children feel safe, valued, and

How Parker Helps with Attendance 🐾

For some children, coming into school can feel overwhelming. Worries, low mood, or past experiences can make the school day feel like too much. Parker helps by making school feel safe, predictable, and welcoming.

Knowing that Parker is there — with time, comfort, and understanding — can reduce anxiety and help children take that important first step through the door. Parker supports emotional regulation, builds trust, and helps children reconnect with positive feelings about school, which in turn supports improved attendance and engagement over time.

A Message from Parker 🐻💛

Hello,

My name is Parker, and I’m really glad you’re here.

If you’re feeling worried, sad, cross, or just not quite yourself, that’s okay. You can sit with me, play a game, or help me look after my first aid kit. I’m very good at listening, and you can even email me on parker@thrivelearningcentre.org.uk if talking feels tricky.

You don’t have to be brave all the time — you just have to try. I’ll be right here while you do.

See you soon,
Parker 🐾
